Students find that old games are fun

ANYONE visiting Alumny Creek School yesterday could have been forgiven for thinking they'd been sent back in time.

Surrounding the old school were hundreds of local Year 2 students and teachers dressed in old-time clothes playing old fashion games..

Bonnet tails and leather boots were a blur as children played games like marbles, tunnel ball and French cricket.

Flynn Shacklady, a seven-year-old student from Westlawn Public School could not say a bad word about the day.

“It is heaps of fun. It is fun to make new friends with the kids from different schools. My favourite game so far is French cricket,” Flynn said.

Parents and grandparents went all out with some outfits.

Alicia Bryant's nan made her outfit. It had no zippers or elastic and she went as far as to hand sew the lace on her bonnet and apron.
