Studies take priority for teens

ASHLEIGH O’Connor and Kaitlin Barrell have been back at school for just over a week and they are well and truly back into the swing of things.

Both have signed up to play hockey this year for their school, Clarence Valley Anglican School, and have enjoyed catching up with friends.

During the Christmas holidays both Year 9 girls enjoyed a bit of time away from home. Ashleigh crossed the Tasman Sea to visit New Zealand, where she became fairly adventurous.

“I went bungee jumping with my brother and my dad. I had to go first and was freaking out, but I was nowhere near as scared as my older brother,” she said.

Kaitlin enjoyed some time at Batemans Bay on the South Coast.

“We went down there for a week and I surfed heaps. We used to live down there, but my dad is a doctor so we move around a fair bit,” she said.

“I have been in Grafton for three years and I love it.”
