Successful raid on the sunshine state

SOUTH Grafton Ex-Services Motor Cycle Club members tasted success north of the border on the weekend.

Jake McLeod and Tomas Williams contested the final round of the prestigious Sunshine State Motocross Series at Coolum on the weekend.

McLeod finished first overall in the 85cc 14-15 years class, and top 10 in his 250cc 4 stroke class.

Williams also finished top 10 in his race classes.

Meanwhile, Jake and Luke Mitchell travelled to Warwick to ride in the second round of the Queensland Metrakit Series and the Southern Downs Road Racing Challenge.

Luke claimed first place overall in the 70cc class, with older brother Jake finishing second overall in the 80cc class, placing the boys in first and second respectively in both series' overall point scores.

This weekend a small contingent of riders will travel to Cooma to compete in the second round of the 2009 Dirt Action Amcross Series, and the following weekend the third round of the North Coast Series will be staged at Coffs Harbour.

  •  WHILE McLeod, Williams and the Mitchell brothers were away competing, the club held a small and casual day of riding for members at Gnudwoc Park.
