Sunshine Coast cops more rain than towns facing Marcia

BEING almost 600km away from where Tropical Cyclone Marcia is about to strike, the Sunshine Coast is copping more rain.

From 9am on Thursday until 7am today, Maroochydore had 137mm, Nambour had 161, Glasshouse had 155 and Noosa Heads had 150mm.

By comparison, Yeppoon - with all its hatches battened down - has had 116mm in the same period.

Nearby Rockhampton, also in the path of the potentially devastating system, has had 100mm.

To the north, Mackay had just 1.6mm. That is not a typo. The Bureau of Meteorology has recorded that Mackay received just 1.6mm in the past 24 hours.
