Wicks receives support on Facebook

AS DANNY Wicks was charged with six counts of supplying illegal drugs and two counts of possession of drugs on December 16, support for the 24-year-old former Newcastle Knights prop grew almost instantly on social networking website, Facebook.

The ‘Support Danny Wicks!’ group was set up the same day the charges were laid and it is not known who started the page.

The group already as 443 ‘fans’ who have left messages of support like ‘keep your chin up big man, hope all goes well in court’.

On December 17 a similar Facebook page was set up in support for his brother, Brett Wicks, 22, and Brett’s partner Tristen Davenport, 25, who were arrested in Grafton and each face five charges of supply drugs.

The group entitled ‘Support Tristen and Brett Wicks’ has 250 ‘fans’ and has similar messages of support.

Danny Wicks’ matter is set down for mention at Newcastle Local Court on February 4, while Brett Wicks and Tristen Davenport are expected to appear before Grafton Local Court on January 25.
