The Nymboida Coaching Station Inn has been closed to the public since May, but for now its many would-be visitors remain loyal.
Ulysses Motorcycle Club Redlands branch member Geoff Nicholson and 35 other branch members were booked in for a Christmas in July event at the Nymboida Coaching Station Inn this weekend, a tradition the club has upheld for a couple of years.
Mr Nicholson said while the owners of the hotel were originally optimistic the venue would be back in business by the time of the event, the decision was made to cancel the booking early last week.
They were reimbursed in full by the owners.
The Nymboida Coaching Station Inn was first issued with an interim stop work order by the NSW Office of Water in May, with no word as yet on when it will be back up and running.
While the owners of the property declined to comment on the situation, it is believed they are still working towards a solution to the cause of the closure, identified by the NSW Office of Water as "the illegal take of water from the (Nymboida) River".
Mr Nicholson said it was disappointing the owners could not open in time; although he was satisfied they had done the right thing by the social club.
"These things bring to the fore how decent people can be; it's how you handle the situation and they handled it well," he said.
"We feel duty bound to support to support them and we'll be back again."
