Sutherland named on Cricket Australia's books

GRAFTON'S Kara Sutherland is one step closer to making her international cricket debut.

The 22-year-old is one of 14 players to receive a Shooting Star contract from Cricket Australia for the 2014-15 season.

The Shooting Stars is a development squad aimed to complement the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad and provide elite training and playing opportunities.

Sutherland's New South Wales teammates Alex Blackwell, Sarah Coyte, Alyssa Healy, Erin Osborne and Ellyse Perry all secured full Southern Star contracts as part of the 15-player squad.
