Swim stars to shine

SWIMMING sensations Daniel Conners and Paige Shannon will be making a splash at the Australian Age Swimming Championships this weekend.

The week-long national competition will be held in Adelaide at the new $100 million aquatic and leisure centre that will open just days before the titles.

Conners will be competing in the 16-years 50m freestyle and Shannon in the 15-years 50m freestyle.

The pair are members of the Yamba Orcas Swimming Club, and their coach, Richard Beresford, is exceptionally proud of the hard work and dedication his students have put in to make it to the championships.

“You have to be very dedicated and hard-working to reach the high standard of the national qualifying time,” he said.

“They are very, very good kids.”

After making it to the state age championships many times in the past, it is a great achievement for them to finally make it to the next level of competition.
