GO TO a truck show most anywhere in Victoria and there's a fair chance the Cornwill boys will be there with their pristine Kenworth T908.
Troy, Wayne and Rick bought the truck new in 2008 and, like many others, decided to put their own stamp on it.
Having had past experience with Thorpe Custom, they made them the go-to people for the work involved.
"They do a good job and have some great ideas. We have a lot of input of course. We design what we want and get what we want. But the Thorpes often come up with an extension of that to make a good idea even better. It's a joint effort. We think it turned out a treat.”
And a treat it is - particularly the stainless steel flooring in the cab. Remember, this truck spends its days hauling steel around Geelong and up to Melbourne.
Obviously lighting is important - the Cornwills even have skull lamps behind the front bumper - but there's a multitude of other additions to the truck.
It's the little things such as chrome capping on the leaf springs that have won this truck many awards over the years.
More than 14 trophies adorn their mum's home, including four Rig of the Shows at Castlemaine.
"She tells us not to bring any more home,” laughs Wayne.
Paradise is powered by a CAT 625 Acert running with a Pittsburgh Power Box putting out 750-800 via a Road Ranger 18 speed auto.
The Cornwill boys have a new kid on the block in the form of another Kenworth - this time a T408.
The truck is still a "work in progress” but has already won an award.
Can't wait to see that truck's total makeover.
Meantime, find yourself a truck show around Melbourne some time and enjoy a taste of Paradise.
