Tabor, Kirk share LCCA top gong

THE race for the Lower Clarence Cricket Association's (LCCA) top honour proved too close to call with Ritchie Tabor and Daniel Kirk sharing the cricketer of the year award at the LCCA's awards night at the Maclean Bowling Club.

Association secretary David Johnson said the presentation was one of the biggest attended nights in LCCA history with more than 130 people appearing at the 'smoothly run' event.

Tabor and Kirk may have taken out the night's top gong, but were not the only players to be recognised for a stand-out year on the cricket pitch.

Sean Butt and Tim McMahon were joint junior players of the year, Brad Bending was named wicket-keeper of the year, Laurie Urquhart was rookie of the year, Aaron Jones took out representative player of the year and, in another joint decision, brothers Mitchell and Liam Johnson shared junior representative player of the year honours.
