Take a ride on El Chepe

MEXICO only has one passenger train but what it lacks in company it certainly makes up for in quality. Known as El Chepe by locals, the Copper Canyon Railway takes passengers from the desert to the Pacific Coast in north-west Mexico, passing sheer canyon walls, waterfalls and plains. The railway stretches more than 650km from Chihuahua to Los Mochis on the coast, travelling over 36 bridges and through 87 tunnels. It has been running for more than 50 years.

The 11-day Copper Canyon tour is a must for lovers of the great outdoors - kayaking, guided hikes, the world famous Chepe Train, a deluxe picnic lunch and a fabulous live music session complete with free-flowing sangria.
