SPIRITED basketballer Courtney Taylor didn't expect to produce the game of her life in Ipswich's recent state league semi-final victory.
The guard stepped up to score a match-turning 20 points as the Force upstaged competition heavyweights Gladstone 78-60 to reach their first grand final.
Although Ipswich lost that title decider in Mackay, Taylor showed what she can do on big occasions.
"In the semi-final I had a really good game," said Taylor, 24.
"Nobody expected us to make the grand final.
"But I've never been so nervous in a basketball game before."
Ipswich born-and-bred Taylor hopes to harness that anxiety to succeed in her latest basketball quest.
The full-time massage therapist, nicknamed "Courtz", has been selected as a development player with Logan Thunder in this season's Women's National Basketball League.
"It's a huge leap," she said.
"It's really good. Obviously a bit nerve-racking because it's a big step up from QBL."
Taylor has been with Logan since her Force commitments ended, playing in three pre-season matches in Melbourne.
"We made it to the final and I managed to get some time in that game, which was good," she said.
Taylor is yet to gain a start in the WNBL but suited up and sat on the bench in Logan's recent match against the Melbourne Boomers.
Although she missed last weekend's road trip to Adelaide and Perth, she's keen to get her first start in future home games.
"There's chances but it just depends because there are players that are signed that get paid," she said.
"They will get on before I will."
While she awaits her national league opportunity, Taylor appreciates having Force teammate and experienced WNBL player Emma Langford in the Logan team.
"It's nice having a smiling face," Taylor said, clearly still finding her feet at a higher level.
Meanwhile, another Ipswich Force guard Jason Ralph has been chosen in the Queensland under-20 team for next year's national championships in Perth.
