Teachers set to strike against cuts

UNPRECEDENTED protest action against the O'Farrell Government's planned education budget cuts will take place across the state in coming months, the NSW Teachers' Federation has warned.

At a meeting in Sydney on Tuesday the federation's president Maurie Mulheron condemned the slashing of $1.76 billion from the budget and urged members to take their fight to the government.

He said committee members would be at local markets and fairs and work with parent and teacher groups to stir up support for a Community Day of Action on a weekend during Term 4.

Protest sites will include TAFE campuses, State Government offices and NSW Parliament House.
