Three-way tie for Jacaranda Festival logo winner
THREE entrants have been voted as winners in a competition to design the new Jacaranda Festival logo.
The competition was created and sponsored by I Scream owner and committee member Jeff Smith after constant back and forth discussion over a new logo that was not working.
"It was just going nowhere," Mr Smith said. "So I decided to throw it open to the community because it is their festival after all.
"I organised the competition and offered to fund the prizes and now we have three fantastic winning designs."
Mr Smith said the original idea of the competition was to crown one clear winner and utilise that design as the festival logo going forward but the committee was not able to pick one clear winner.
The three winning designs will now be sent off to a third party graphic designer to digitally render a new logo that incorporates elements of each winning design.
Committee member Grafton Shoppingworld's Kelle Murphy said that the winning design was always going to have to visit a designer for digital rendering. "[The committee] felt that there was not one clear design that stood out on its own," Mrs Murphy said. "None of the logos had all of the design elements we wanted to be incorporated."
The three winners who will share the $300 prize money included local graphic designer Justin James, set designer and painter for the Criterion Theatre Sue Mackey and Brisbane based Kyra Goede.
