Tigers ready and roaring to go in 2009

THE local football season is approaching fast and the Westlawn Tigers are ready and off the mark with good numbers to their first training sessions last week.

A small gathering was on hand to see head coach Terry Stuart and John Nelson take command of their troops at Barnier Park and put them through their paces.

Stuart said he was happy with the quality and player numbers already training.

The Tigers have some good challenges lined up before the serious competition starts.

Their first trial will be the inaugural Whiporie Challenge Cup against Casino Football Club with a home and away fixture planned for the weekends of February 21 and 28.

Trials have also been arranged against Orara Valley Dingoes on March 14 before their annual trial with the Woolgoolga Wolves.

Regular training for all seniors is being held at Barnier Park, Junction Hill, on Tuesdays and Thursday nights from 6pm.
