Tinder date leads to knife attack charges

A WOMAN who was on a first date with a man she met via mobile app Tinder slashed him with a knife after answering a phone call from his de facto, a court has heard.

The man, 30, told police when he woke up on the floor of Alana Jones's Bowen Hills apartment she was standing on top of him, slashing at him with a knife, Brisbane Magistrates Court heard.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Matt Kahler said the man told police: "She's gone crazy ... It was out of the blue''.

Sgt Kahler said the man used his forearm to defend himself and had a bleeding hand. Jones, 24, who claims she acted in self-defence, appeared in court yesterday charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and in possession of dangerous drugs.

The court heard Jones and the man, who had just got together on Friday night after meeting via Tinder, had gone to her Jeays St apartment after having a few drinks.

"It's a very high risk activity for everybody to be involved in,'' Magistrate Christine Roney said, before releasing Jones on bail, on condition that she not use Tinder or Facebook.
