Injured child now stable but airlifted to Westmead overnight

SUNDAY - 10.00AM: THE young Park Beach boy run over on Saturday in a driveway has been airlifted to hospital in Sydney.

About 4.25pm, a 30-year-old man was in the process of moving his Holden Commodore when he reversed into his one-year-old son.

Police have been told the man had just finished washing the vehicle in the driveway of his unit complex on Park Beach Road when the incident occurred.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the injured toddler was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

He remains in a stable condition receiving treatment for suspected internal injuries and bruising to his chest.

Investigations into the circumstance surrounding the incident are continuing.

SATURDAY - 5.30PM: POLICE have established a crime scene off Park Beach Road in Coffs Harbour following information an infant has been struck by a motor vehicle.

The incident was reported around 4.30pm and is believed to have taken place near the rear of a block of units.

An ambulance transported the 18-month-old child to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a critical condition.
