Toddler critical after being hit by ute

A TODDLER has critical head injuries after a utility drove into his home in the New South Wales town of Moree, west of Lismore and Grafton.

The white Toyota Hilux ute left the road at 5.45pm on Saturday, driving 10m into the front of the home.

The two-year-old boy was in the lounge room at the front of the house at the time and he sustained multiple fractures and head injuries.

He was taken to Moree Hospital before being airlifted to The Children's Hospital, Westmead, where he is reported to be in a critical but stable condition.

The driver, a 56-year-old man from Moree, provided a negative breath test at the scene.

The ute has been seized for forensic examination and the driver is now helping police in their investigation.
