Toddler's foot 'partially amputated' after lawn mower fall

A TODDLER'S right foot has been "partially amputated" after falling from a ride-on lawn mower yesterday afternoon.

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked just after 1:30pm yesterday to Stanthorpe Hospital to airlift the toddler to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.

The incident happened on a property in New South Wales.

The boy and his mother were transported by ambulance to Stanthorpe Hospital before being airlifted to Brisbane in a serious but stable condition.

The critical mission was one of 10 RACQ LifeFlight crews have performed since Friday night, including several more on the Darling Downs.

LifeFlight's Toowoomba-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service helicopter was tasked to Tara late yesterday afternoon to airlift another toddler who had suffered head injuries after being kicked in the head by a horse.

The toddler was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Another rescue helicopter was also tasked to a property east of Toogoolawah where a male in his fifties had been lopping trees.

While cutting the tree trunks, one large section of tree rolled over on him and crushed one of his legs.

The rescue helicopter landed at the property and the RACQ Lifelight medical team assisted paramedics treating the male.

He was stabilised and was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
