Tribute book to Dame Marie Bashir open now

CLARENCE Valley residents are encouraged to pay personal tribute to Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO who retires on October 1 this year.

State MP Chris Gulaptis said a tribute book had been set up in his electorate office, the NSW Parliament House and online at http://www.nsw.gov.au.

He said the tribute book will be available until Sunday, September 21.

"Dame Bashir is the second longest serving Governor of New South Wales in our 226 year history, having served since 2001," Mr Gulaptis said.

"Dame Bashir is truly the People's Governor and a remarkable Australian.

"I also pay particular tribute to Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE for all his tireless work alongside Dame Bashir over the years.

"I was honoured to be present representing my electorate this week as the Governor gave her final address to the NSW Parliament.

"I encourage everyone to pay their personal tribute to a remarkable individual who has served this State with distinction, dignity, humility and respect," Mr Gulaptis said.
