Trio appearing in court after Woolgoolga assault

AN ASSAULT in Woolgoolga early on Tuesday morning will see three people appear in Grafton Local Court today.

The trio were refused bail yesterday after a serious assault which happened at about 1.15am.

A 41-year-old man was assaulted by three people, one armed with a metal picket, at the carpark at Woolgoolga Headland.

The man suffered a fractured fibula, serious lacerations and bruising.

The trio left the scene in a car.

The man was able to drag himself back to his car and contacted emergency services.

He was conveyed to Coffs Harbour Hospital where he received surgery for his injuries.

About 11.15am yesterday police arrested an 18-year-old man while he was driving his car in Clarence Street, Grafton.

Shortly afterwards police arrested a 38-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman at a business in Grafton.

They were taken to Grafton Police Station and charged with assault cause grievous bodily harm and were refused bail.
