Trio caught after stolen car joyride

TWO of three teenage boys caught taking a joyride in a stolen four-wheel-drive have fronted Children's Court after being arrested in South Grafton.

About 2.30am yesterday, patrolling police saw a white Nissan Navara in the carpark of the South Grafton Transit Exchange.

As they drove into the transit exchange, the officers allegedly saw the vehicle jolt forward as if the engine had just stalled.

Police will allege that the driver was a 14-year-old Glen Innes boy, while the passengers were a 14-year-old from Bowraville and a 17-year-old from Coffs Harbour.

Vehicle checks established the car had been stolen from Coffs Harbour on Saturday.

The 17-year-old and 14-year-old passengers were charged with 'be carried in conveyance (stolen vehicle)' and bail refused by police to Grafton Children's Court.

The driver will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
