Triple treat dished up for long weekend cycling in Valley

BANG, bang, bang. The Valley is about to be hit by three huge days of cycling, and each with its own distinct flavour.

The long weekend explodes into gear at 1pm on Saturday when the 3-Hour Mountain Bike Enduro ignites Bom Bom State Forest.

Bright and early on Sunday morning the road racing purists depart See Park to hit the slipstream for the Mauri Kautto Memorial Team Time Trials over 50km and 100km.

Helter skelter cash dash races provide the backdrop for the grand finale on Monday with a prize pool of more than $2500 up for grabs in the Yamba Shores Tavern Criterium.

Turning up for a piece of the action are three of the Valley's leading professionals in the sport of cycling.

Aaron Watts, Shaun Baxter and Craig Evers will all feature at various stages, adding plenty of spice to the local cycling feast.

Evers will travel the furthest. He is based in Canberra with Data #3 Symantec Racing Team.

He is coming off a gruelling campaign of back-to- back four-day tours in which he placed fourth in the Tour of Toowoomba and third in the Battle of the Border in his pet event, the individual time trial.

He is riding a single speed bike on Saturday before chasing birthday cash on Monday.

"I'm pretty tight of cash so I wouldn't mind winning some to pay for the fuel home," Evers said.
