Truck accident at renowned roundabout causes traffic chaos
A B DOUBLE crashed at the Englands Rd Pacific Highway roundabout at South Coffs Harbour early this morning.
The driver was taken to hospital with suspected chest pains and arm soreness where he will submit mandatory blood testing.
Inspector Tony Lenthall from Fire and Rescue NSW said crews were alerted at 3.55am.
He said Fire and Rescue crews attended and removed just over 300 litres of diesel fuel from the truck and rendered safe a fuel spillage due to a tank rupture.
The load of magazines appeared to be intact.
Southbound lanes remained open and the northbound section has been reduced to one lane. Traffic queues on the Pacific Hwy stretched as far as 3.5km.
The current salvage operation is expected to cause further traffic delays.
