Truckie Madaz about burnouts

THE smell of rubber burning and V8s churning spells a perfect day for Ipswich truckie Darren Kimber.

He runs the Madaz Burnout competitions at Queensland Raceway and competes in state competitions with his car Vicious.

Mr Kimber said he started the Madaz Burnouts to get kids off the streets and into a safer environment for burnouts.

"I was always in the car game, the drags then the burnouts," he said.

At the last meeting he had 85 entrants and 720 spectators, with people from up and down the eastern seaboard attending.

When he's not organising burnout meets or competing, he runs Kimber's Haulage, operating a Kenworth tipper and has been driving trucks since he joined the Army at 16.

He's been through a set of tyres in 73 seconds in Vicious which has 600-700hp at the wheels and more than 1000Nm of torque and runs a blown and injected LS.

The next competition is on August 17. For details see Kimber's Haulage on Facebook.
