True love under stars lasts 60 years and more
LITTLE did she realise when he kissed her at the garden gate - in Brisbane St, Dubbo, 60 years ago - that they were destined to spend the rest of their lives together.
Brian and Joyce Peisley married in Dubbo on September 26, 1953.
From humble beginnings to raising eight daughters, the going was tough but also filled with joy and untold happiness, with 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The couple moved from Dubbo to Tamworth, then to Lismore, before finally settling in Maclean in 1968.
Brian and Joyce set up Maclean Tyre Service and proudly supported the town and their daughters.
From tuckshop duties at St Joey's to cane harvest festivals in the 1970s, they embraced life and opened their hearts and home to family and strangers.
Now with their feet well and truly up, they reside in Yamba with Percy - Joyce's pet pelican.
Brian and Joyce live by the water surrounded by the love of their family and the undying love they still have for each other - and they are still laughing.
They would not swap it for the world.
They came together under the stars. What started out as liking soon developed into love.
