UPDATE: FRIZZO Road at Palmview has now re-opened after being closed for around five hours. 

The road was closed after a fatal traffic crash at 10.30 this morning. 

UPDATE 1.34am: IN tragic news, Forensic Crash Unit has confirmed an elderly woman has died following a serious head-on crash at Palmview this morning. 

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Superintendent Russell Thompson said the 83-year-old woman was a passenger in a sedan driving along Frizzo Rd when the crash occurred. 

The 84-year-old driver was taken to Nambour General Hospital win a critical condition. 

The pair were travelling when they collided with a four wheel drive, towing a trailer. 

The driver of four wheel drive suffered facial injuries and was also taken to hospital. 

Police were yet to confirm the cause of the crash.

UPDATE 12.45am: FRIZZO Rd at Palmview has reopened after being closed since 10.30am this morning following a head-on crash.

 

UPDATE 11.40AM: 

FRIZZO Rd at Palmview remains closed as emergency services clear the scene of a head-on crash.

Three people were trapped- an elderly couple in a sedan and another man in a four-wheel-drive- when the two cars collided about 10.25am. 

A woman has been taken to Nambour General Hospital with serious injuries, the man in the same vehicle was taken in stable condition to hospital with neck pain and a third man in the second car was taken to hospital with facial injuries. 

Police are diverting traffic on Frizzo Rd.

EARLIER: 

EMERGENCY crews at at the scene of a two car head-on crash at Palmview this morning.

The crash between a sedan and 4x4 with trailer occurred at 10.25am near Aussie World on Frizzo Rd. 

Frizzo Rd is currently closed to traffic. 

A police spokesman said injuries were unknown at this stage. 

Three people were trapped in cars at the scene with hydraulic rescue underway. 

Ambulance crews have arrived at the scene.
