Two charged with cultivation

TWO men have been charged after police located cannabis during two search warrants on the state's north coast.

About 9.30am this morning (Thursday 27 October 2011), police executed the first search warrant at a premise on Taylors Road, Chillcotts Grass.

It is alleged during this search warrant police located a small amount of cannabis seed and leaf.

About 11am, police executed another search warrant at a neighbouring premise on Taylors Road and found a total of 330 cannabis plants growing hydroponically within a shed.

Police allegedly located a further 2.7 kilograms of cannabis leaf and cultivation equipment.

Two men were arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station.

The first man, aged 37, was charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis, supplying prohibited drug, and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

The second man, aged 40, was charged with knowingly taking part in the cultivation of a large commercial quantity of cannabis.

They were both granted conditional bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court on Monday 5 December 2011.

The seized cannabis has a street value of approximately $700,000.
