Two titles in one day for rising teenage star

TENNIS: Rising teenage star Alexander Zverev has managed a feat last achieved by Lleyton Hewitt by winning both the singles and the doubles at the Open Sud de France.

The 19-year-old German denied home favourite a third straight title with a 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 success before teaming up with older brother Mischa to defeat Fabrice Martin and Daniel Nestor in the doubles final later in the day.

Zverev became the first player to win a singles and doubles title at the same tournament since Hewitt won at Newport three years ago.

The fourth seed broke Gasquet in the first game before the Frenchman broke back to level at 2-2.

Zverev then controlled the tie-break to win that 7-4.

He then broke Gasquet again to lead 5-3 in the second set and held his serve to win the crown.
