Woman, 79, charged after crash in Urangan

A 79-year-old woman from Brisbane has been charged with driving without due care and attention after a two-car crash in Hervey Bay on Tuesday.

A police officer said the woman drove through a give way sign about 1.45pm on the corner of Pulgul and Moolyyir Sts in Urangan.

He said although it was raining at the time and road the road was slippery, wet weather conditions were not a factor.

The officer said the woman, from Manly, was driving a red 2003 Peugeot 307 hatchback which hit into the side of a 2014 Toyota Corolla sedan driven by a 41-year-old female.

Ambulance officers were called to the crash but no injuries were reported.

Police said both cars were towed from the scene.

The woman is due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on August 20.
