Tyson's TV future looks bright after reality debut

TYSON Mayr hopes his appearance on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will jumpstart a career in television.

The model and travel blogger, known as the Naked Traveller, spent five weeks on Channel 10's reality show before he was eliminated last night.

Living in a basic bush camp in South Africa, Mayr and his fellow celebrities competed in tucker trials to earn supplements to their staple diet of rice and beans.

But the 29-year-old is used to roughing it, having built up a social media following for his blogs on low-budget travel.

"Prior to going in I had a travel TV series in development with production companies and networks so I'm excited to see where they are at now," he told APN.

"And as an ambassador for Skype have some exciting things coming up there."

A future TV series could be based on Mayr's Bucket List project, which sees him help disabled people fulfill their travel wish lists.

Now based in Los Angeles, the former Gold Coast real estate agent won last year's Best Job in the World competition.

He is dating last year's Bachelor Australia runner-up Lisa Hyde after they met as judges of fashions on the field on Melbourne Cup Day.

Hyde has been managing his social media accounts while he's been on the show.

"You get a lot of time to think about people when you are locked up in a remote camp in South Africa, trust me," he said.

"I'm missing that little cutie in a big way and I'm excited to see her again soon."

The couple will travel to Uganda with a group of volunteers in support of RainCatcher. Mayr is the ambassador of the charity which distributes water filters in developing countries.

"Apart from that I am excited to get started on other projects and productions that truly do excite me and really spending some quality time with family, friends and my girl back in Australia," he said.

"It's been three years since I've been home, so I think it's well overdue."

Four more eliminations will take place this week before the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! final on Sunday.
