Umpire duo ready for finals debut

UMPIRES: Players in the third grade grand final will not be the only people on the field filled with nerves as former players Jason Thompson and Tim Kinnane both step to the wicket to officiate their first CRCA grand finals.

Both umpires have become regular senior officials this year deserving their call up to the competition decider.

Seasoned umpiring duo Jeff Hackett and Bruce Baxter will officiate over the Premier League grand final between Harwood and Tucabia at Ellem Oval.

After a rain affected grand final last season Hackett said he was hoping for sunshine.

"Both Bruce and myself are looking for two dry days," Hackett said. "Like the players we just want to see some good cricket action. We can't wait."

Experience will also be a factor in the second grade clash with Terry Hickson and Terry Brien taking up the duties from each end.

Both umpires have plenty of matches under their belts and will bring a good knowledge of the game to the clash at McKittrick Park.
