United victory keeps the heat on EPL rivals

FOOTBALL: Manchester United has kept the pressure on Arsenal and Manchester City with a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace.

United is now fifth, a point behind the Gunners and two behind City in the Champions League spots.

An own goal from Damien Delaney and a second from Matteo Darmian sealed the victory. West Ham stayed three points behind United in sixth after a 3-1 success over Watford.

Andy Carroll scored for the sixth game running, while Mark Noble poked home two penalties.

The pressure is mounting on Everton manager Roberto Martinez after a 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

Divock Origi and Mamadou Sakho scored headers against the Toffees, who had Ramiro Funes Mori for a nasty challenge on Origi, who was replaced by Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge added a third goal before Philippe Coutinho made it four.
