IT WAS shoulder room only at Queensland Raceway when fans got to take over the track on the final day of the Coates Hire Ipswich 400.

Several thousand spectators got to experience the True Colour Track Walk yesterday morning to view the cars and meet their favourite drivers.

V8 Supercars spokesman Cole Hitchcock said the new feature would likely be retained next year thanks to its popularity.

"It was out of control," he said.

"It really was a great buzz."

The Ipswich 400 attracted 48,487 people across three days, including 17,072 people to watch the final races yesterday.

"We've just been embraced," Mr Hitchcock said.

"The way we've been received has just been incredible."

Pilots from the Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley showed off their machines with F/A-18F Super Hornets reaching a maximum speed of 1000km/h during flyovers on all three days of the event.
