Valley celebrates its best

BUSINESS excellence was celebrated in style at the Clarence Valley Business Excellence Awards gala dinner on Saturday night.

The prestigious "NAB 2011 Clarence Valley Excellent Business Award", sponsored by NAB Business, was awarded to Maclean organisation Mareeba Aged Care, which also took out the ETC Professional Services (more than five employees) Award.

Grafton-based Complete Staff Solutions took home the ETC Professional Services (less than five employees) category as well as the Essential Energy 2011 Workplace Safety Award.

The three-course dinner, held at Yamba Golf and Country Club, was attended by 160 guests including MC John Murray, Northern Rivers regional manager of the NSW Business Chamber, Federal Member for Page Janelle Saffin, and Clarence Valley Mayor Richie Williamson. Guests were entertained by Maclean High School's acclaimed performing arts students, who opened the night with numbers from Copacabana, as well as Grafton-based jazz quartet Bigger Than Hur.

From a field of 36 entries representing 31 businesses, 11 category awards and two overall awards were presented following a lengthy process of expert judging.

 Cross Roads Grafton: Winner, New Business Start-up - first year of operation

 East Coast Restoration: Winner, New Business Start-up - up to two years of operation

 Complete Staff Solutions: Winner, Professional Services - less than five employees

 Mareeba Aged Care: Winner, Professional Services - more than five employees

 Frogs Hollow Garden Centre: Winner, Retail - less than five employees

 Causley Fresh: Winner, Retail - more than five employees

 Yamba Golf & Country Club: Winner, Sporting and Community Organisations

 The Cove Beachfront Apartments, Yamba: Winner, Tourism

 Ezy2c: Winner, Trade, Industry and Manufacturing

 Mareeba Aged Care: Winner, 2011 Excellent Business Award

 Complete Staff Solutions: Winner, Workplace Safety Award
