Valley schools impress on home waters

ROWING: Maclean High School narrowly missed out on clinching the top gong during the NSW CHS Rowing Championships at Grafton this week after the school finished second overall on the combined point score.

More than 130 competitors from 17 schools across New South Wales descended on the Clarence River for the two day event which included the three Clarence Valley public high schools.

The impressive efforts of Grafton High's male contingent, which included the gold-medal winning 'oarsome' foursome of Thomas Rowe, Zachary Daniels, Ben Luxton and Jason Reynolds (coxed by Bethany Van Haren), helped crown the school overal boys pointscore champions.

Lower Clarence Rowing Club continues to show their dominance on the Northern Rivers with several of their members picking up medals for Maclean High.

Lachlan Maxwell came away with two gold medals while Stephanie Hutton and Clara Samms doubled up on gold in both two-person and four-person events.
