Valley top achiever aims high
AS Nathan Macfarlane checked his Higher School Certificate results last Thursday, he received a huge shock – his name was on the New South Wales Board of Studies Top Achievers’ List.
The Clarence Valley Anglican School student qualified for the distinguished list by coming seventh in the State in Information Technology, a course he completed through distance education.
“I checked the list by accident and did not expect my name to be there at all,” Nathan said yesterday.
“I wasn’t really too stressed during the whole examination process. My last years at high school were really good.”
Nathan ended up with an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) of 89.85 and hopes to study a double degree of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Brisbane.
