Variety the spice of life for cyclists
THE Variety Cycle will be making a stop in Yamba this year as riders make the journey from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef to help support kids in need.
The peloton taking part in the 15-day, 2002km trip will travel from Coffs Harbour and stop in at Yamba on Thursday April 7, before leaving again the next day to Byron Bay. The Variety Cycle is now in its third year, with this new route taking in some of Australia's most beautiful landscapes as riders embark on their epic journey from April 2-16.
Variety Children's Charity NSW CEO Tam Johnston said one of the most rewarding parts of the ride was the ability to meet families during the ride and donate much needed resources and equipment.
"The Variety Cycle is more than just a bike ride," she said.
"It gives participants an exclusive insight into Variety's vital work and how their fundraising supports Aussie kids in need."
Participants interested in taking part in this year's ride have a number of options for the ride.
Cyclists can either take on the full 15-day challenge, or one of the shorter options of seven, two or one day rides.
The event was founded in 2013 by Christopher Mapp, a long-time Variety supporter, who will again saddle up for the entire 15-day adventure.
"Having the opportunity to ride through some of the most beautiful parts of Australia with a great bunch of people is an amazing experience," he said.
