Grafton veteran revisits Queen

ON February 23, Henry Caldwell, a Grafton Second World War veteran, and his wife Gloria experienced “one of the best days” of their lives.

Aboard the majestic Cunard liner, the Queen Mary 2, the Caldwells were among a select crowd attending a commemoration to remember Cunard’s role in the defence of Australia during the Second World War.

“It was amazing. We attended a memorial service, had a beautiful lunch and were escorted on a tour of the ship,” Mr Caldwell said.

“The whole day was organised to perfection.

“I got a bit emotional, but it was fantastic.”
