Victim in robbery hits back and is praised by cops

A MAN has caught out two men who attempted a robbery on his property, and has done such an efficient job that the police have made the suggestion he join the NSW Police Force.

Late yesterday afternoon two men, aged 46 and 18, were arrested on a property in Mongogarie (South-West of Casino) and charged with trespassing and stealing after the owner caught them out.

Police said the two men trespassed on to the Ainsworth Road property, not knowing that the owner was home at the time.

The owner, police said, watched the men walk around his house before returning to their car and driving down to the property's back shed.

Police said the owner then confronted the two men and ordered them out of the car.

Police said when the two men claimed they were "looking for petrol" - a claim dismissed by the owner as he could see his own chainsaw and battery pack on the floor of the car.

Once out of the car the owner then searched through the rest of the car where he found a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be drugs.

After doing all that, the owner then called police who came and arrested the two men.

They were conveyed to Casino Police Station where the 46-year-old Casino man was charged with trespassing and stealing and the 18-year-old Coraki man was charged with trespassing, stealing and possessing prohibited drugs.

Police ended their media release by stating: "The victim in this matter has since been sent a NSW Police Recruitment Package."
