HAS your bank ever made you want to cry? How about cry with joy?

In a genius marketing stunt, North American firm TD Canada Trust had a "customer appreciation day" that changed lives.

The bank would traditionally offer free coffee or cake at the local branch but this year decided to "kick it up a notch".

TD Canada Trust's Chris Stamper said the bank wanted to thank customers "in a way that we felt was unique and distinctive".

It used four "Automated Thanks Machines",  that gave gifts to pre-selected customers.

Branches chose which of their long-time customers would benefit, ensuring the right person was given the right gift.

The video has now had more than a million hits on YouTube.

See if you can watch their reactions without welling up a little.
