Vikings hard to beat at home

LAST weekend the complex was very busy with State League Basketball.

The Vikings won four out of the five games with all three teams performing well.

This weekend the seniors are in Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie with the men expected to win both games while the women will struggle against Coffs Harbour.

Again this week the complex will be quiet with the school holidays, but next week all sports are back to normal

ALTHOUGH there are some games this week, most teams chose to have a fortnight off. All of last season's teams will be back this comp. This will be the first main comp of the year with trophies for the winners.

New teams are most welcome in this comp. To nominate a team or yourself just contact the complex on 6641 4200 and leave a message. Nominations are being accepted for the next few weeks in A and B grade men; A, B and C grade women, or; individual players can nominate and a team in a suitable grade will be found.

Mini ball for primary school students will start again on Monday afternoon from 4pm. All primary school students are most welcome to come along and try basketball. It is also hoped to start a high school competition on a Monday afternoon this term. If you are at high school and want to play basketball please contact the complex.

We are looking at running unisex basketball on a Monday night with the normal basketball competition. Nominations are now open for people wishing to play unisex basketball.

Just contact the complex if you are interested in playing or come along to the complex on a Monday night for more information.

THE netball comp will resume next week on Tuesday nights from 6pm. All of last season's teams have re-nominated, but we can accept many more.

So far one new team has nominated so we badly need another one to avoid that dreaded bye.

Netball at the complex is seven-a-side, like outdoor netball, and under the same rules. We also are badly in need of umpires for the comp.

If you wish to play netball as a team or an individual please contact the complex. If you are prepared to Umpire also please contact the complex any night during the week.

This term we are looking at starting a unisex netball competition in conjunction with the netball comp. It will be played on a Tuesday night from 7.30.

Next Tuesday we are asking all people that have indicated they wish to play to come along at 7.30 when games will be held and nominations taken.

VOLLEYBALL is played on a Thursday night from 6.30 at the complex. This year has seen an increase in numbers playing volleyball.

BADMINTON is also played on a Thursday night from 6.30. Badminton is also experiencing a resurgence after looking like folding earlier in the year.

Many more badminton players can be accommodated on a Thursday night at the centre.

But wait, there's more

OTHER activities at the complex are life ball for the over-50s on a Wednesday morning; archery on a Wednesday night; hopeful on a Wednesday night multi sports will soon have enough teams to start; hockey and futsal are taking a break but the complex will be looking to start both in a months time
