Breanna Ryan and Grace Hickey are Solstice

A GIFT of a ukulele led to the formation of an unlikely union now ready to give back to a worthy cause.

Breanna Ryan and Grace Hickey formed duo Solstice, and their unique blend of cello, ukulele and voice will serenade walkers at the Lower Clarence Relay for Life next Saturday, March 14 at Yamba Public School.

The Lower Clarence pair met in music classes at Maclean High school, and when cellist Breanna gave Grace a ukulele as a present, they found a unique sound combination.

Now both on a gap year, after completing their HSC , they are playing events around the Clarence Valley and decided to donate their sound to the Relay for Life event.

"We both have grown up in the Lower Clarence and are more than happy to support the area which has always supported their music before Solstice was formed," they said.
