Wanderers put out all-river challenge to Harwood
CRICKET: Wanderers captain Joel Peterie has laid down the gauntlet to the CRCA Premier League champions Harwood, inviting them to compete with the LCCA 1st Grade premiers in a 50-over exhibition match.
The match would be a determination of who is the best on the Clarence River after Harwood defeated Tucabia Copmanhurst at Ellem Oval to take out the Premier League gong on Sunday and Wanderers defeated Harwood's Lower Clarence line up on Saturday.
"I think it would be a good match to prove what we can do," Peterie said.
While Harwood believed the idea of an exhibition match was an entertaining prospect, Harwood captain Nathan Ensbey instead returned an alternative challenge.
"If they want to play the best teams they should play in the best competition," Ensbey said.
"We would love to see them in Premier League."
