Website makes searching for books a breeze
PEOPLE looking for a good book that is similar to an old favourite, who want to know what the next title is in their favourite series or find a great murder mystery, adventure story or historical romance are invited to visit the new Clarence Regional Library website.
Regional librarian Kathryn Breward said a visit to the website would help users find new authors and books to enjoy.
"A web service that your library has made available to keen readers is NoveList Plus," she said.
"It is sophisticated search tool that can suggest a new title based on previous books you have enjoyed by searching for a storyline, the pace of the plot, the tone or writing style.
"NoveList Plus also contains lists of recommended reads and award-winning books, including book reviews by professional reviewers and everyday readers covering fiction and nonfiction titles for all ages from the youngest readers to adults.
"With this service our borrowers can even create a reading list so they can check the online library catalogue for availability of the items they are interested in borrowing. If the library doesn't hold the book you are interested in, you can always request that we buy it through the library website."
Keen readers can access this service from home through the Valley Library's webpage at http://www.crl.nsw.gov.au and clicking on the eResources link, under 'services'. Customers using NoveList Plus from home will need to enter their library card number and pin when prompted on the authentication page before being redirected to the NoveList Plus site.
"Using NoveList Plus is like having your own librarian at the ready to suggest the next great book for you to read," Ms Breward said. "Of course you can always come in to your nearest valley library and talk to one of our staff who will help you on your reading journey."
