What a view! NASA image shows Saturn from above

IT'S a side of Saturn we're not so used to seeing.

This portrait released by NASA shows the top of Saturn and its rings.

The composite was created from images obtained by NASA's Cassini spacecraft this month.

It was made by amateur image processor and Cassini fan Gordan Ugarkovic.

The mosaic was created from 12 image footprints with red, blue and green filters from Cassini's imaging science subsystem - although it has not been geometrically corrected for shifts in the spacecraft perspective and still has some camera artifacts.

However, it offers a fascinating sight of the heavenly body.
