DIVERSE MIX: Don't miss the international sounds of Equus live at the Pelican Playhouse on Friday night.

WHAT'S ON: Hear the magic of Mongolia at the Pelican Theatre

THE music of Mongolia will take the Pelican Playhouse to a whole new world of sound and groove when the band Equus takes to the stage at the Pelican Playhouse tonight.

Featuring the extraordinary harmonic throat singing of Mongolian musician Bukhu Ganburged, Equus will bring epic, haunting ballads as well as high-energy grooves to the Clarence for this unique but accessible musical opportunity.

Ganburged is a world-renowned performer who was granted permanent residency recently by the Australian government under the Distinguished Talent Visa program.

He will be joined by three other performers of diverse musical and cultural backgrounds to create a style all of their own.

Equus is more than just a musical journey into the nomadic culture and folk song traditions of Mongolia.

The band has created a reputation for its "curiosity and delight in smashing boundaries" and has been a hit at festivals and venues all over Australia, including at the Woodford Folk Festival and Sydney Opera House.
