White hot against blue

McAULEY White downed Grafton High Blues 3-1 in the A-grade grand final on Saturday.

Ebony Herden opened the scoring for McAuley, finishing an attacking Kathryn Linger move from the left flank.

Ashley Danvers doubled the lead just before half-time after scoring off a tomahawk shot following some great lead-up work by her teammates.

Grafton High came out firing in the second term and were rewarded with an early corner.

The strong hit came to Chloe Duroux, which was then deflected into the circle by Emilia Blanch.

However, McAuley put the result beyond doubt five minutes later after a clearance from their defensive half was taken up the right-hand side, crossed into the goal circle and put away by Tiffany Lee.

Cassidy Oseland was named Player of the Grand Final for her strong showing in defence while Jess Edwards also starred at the back for McAuley.

For Grafton High, Alana Keats and Brie-Ellen Conyard were tireless in defence, while Taylah Hamilton and Millie Payne worked hard in attack.
