Winger made of the Wright stuff, says Cowboys coach

FORMER Cronulla winger Matt Wright will make his NRL debut for North Queensland against Newcastle in Townsville tonight, with the Cowboys looking to arrest a worrying three-game losing streak.

Rookie Cowboys coach Paul Green has called up Wright (pictured), who signed a one-year deal with the club, on the right wing for the inconsistent Kyle Feldt who turned out for the Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup on Saturday night.

"Wrighty deserves his chance. He has a fair bit of NRL experience and I am sure he will do a good job for us," Green said.

The coach would not comment on weekend reports that powerful young forward Tariq Sims had asked for a release from his contract for personal family reasons.

"Tariq has been fantastic for us. We're working with him and he's been a good player, but I won't comment on personal matters," Green said.

Tariq and his brother Ashton will come up against young brother Korbin who has been included on the Knights bench.
