Woes continue for Wests Tigers coach

UNDER pressure Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter's week continues to get worse with two of his players unlikely to be available for this weekend's key clash with North Queensland after being among six players charged by the match review committee.

While four of them, Jesse Sene-Lefao (Manly),  Junior Paulo (Parramatta), Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Roosters) and Josh Papalii (Canberra) will all be free to play if they enter guilty pleas, Tigers pair Bodene Thompson and Sitaleki Akauola are looking at time on the sidelines.

Thompson's dangerous contact charge on Melbourne's Jesse Bromwich incurred loading from prior offences with 220 points meaning he will miss two games unless he reduces it to 165 and one game by pleading guilty.

Aakuola's shoulder charged with stunned Storm fullback Billy Slater was also subject to loading but with an early guilty plea he can reduce the points penalty from 240 to 180 and miss just one game.

It's tough news for Potter, embroiled in a war of words with former Test forward and TV personality Gorden Tallis, who this week appealed to the media to leave him along to focus on preparing the Tigers for their remaining five games while the club's board consider his coaching futures.

Meanwhile in other league news embattled Raider coach Ricky Stuart will have a new assistant next season with Newcastle U-20s coach Mick Crawley heading back to Canberra with a wealth of knowledge after spending time under former Cowboys coach Neil Henry and more recently with Wayne Bennett at the Knights.
